Saban-mania could reach new heights Saturday
If No. 8 ’Bama beats No. 3 Georgia, even coach’s many critics must applaud. His mega-contract ($5-million per year) has been dissected endlessly. His graceless departure from the NFL still leaves a mark. His iron-fisted manner makes it difficult to wrap your arms around the program. If you want to get a reaction from the South’s passionate college football fans, you need only utter two words. Nick Saban.

A.J. Green can finish the sentence without any help. Julio Jones is the next coming of Terrell Owens, and your style has been compared to … “Randy Moss,” Green chimed in, not even waiting for the reporter to complete the analogy. Large footsteps, to be sure, but these two dynamic freshmen have wasted little time showing why many recruiting services had them ranked 1-2 among receivers coming out of the high school.

When Lorenzo Washington committed to Alabama, his friends simply didn’t understand. Why would a blue chip prospect from Loganville, Ga., pick the Crimson Tide over the Georgia Bulldogs? Roll Tide!
