
Saban asks pledges not to visit UT
Alabama coach Nick Saban has no problem with current Crimson Tide commitments visiting other campuses before National Signing Day on Feb. 4 – so long as that other school is not Tennessee. In the wake of former Alabama recruiter Lance Thompson’s abrupt departure last week for Tennessee, two blue-chip Alabama pledges from Thompson’s former recruiting area have cooled noticeably on the Vols. Dispute might have helped lead to Willis’ leaving
Nearly two weeks elapsed between the evening linebackers coach James Willis cleaned out his Auburn office and the day he started moving back in. That absence, and a dispute over whether it makes Willis eligible for severance pay, may have played at least some role in his stunning decision to leave his alma mater for a position at Alabama earlier this week, sources familiar with the situation told the Press-Register Friday.
