Freddie Kitchens and Amos Jones both played football at the University of Alabama. They worked together for two years on the same coaching staff at Mississippi State. They left to coach in the National Football League. Now they’re going to the Super Bowl, but with different teams.

Trent Richardson Update: Recruiting bonanza-rama… what did everybody say?
So, it was another big recruiting weekend at Alabama, with seven (or so) official visitors. Want to know what they told the Web sites? Me too! Let’s check it out: RB Trent Richardson, who visited LSU, told CrimsonConfidential.com that he’s still committed to UA, but…: “They gave me a lot to think about. I really got to be around a lot of the players this week. When I come down for the games, you don’t really get to do that. At first I thought the players were kind of stuck up, but I saw a different side this weekend. It went good. It was a lot of fun.”

ANDREW BONE: Recruiting chat transcript
Mahout: It seems like our remaining targets are getting shaky…Patrick, Moore, Patterson, ETC. WHAT’S THE NEW FORECAST? Andrew Bone: Alabama should close very strong. The Tide looks good with Kirkpatrick, Kelly, Tana and Moore. Alabama probably leads for Myles and toss-up with Ole Miss at this point for Patterson.

Recapping another official visit weekend …
While waiting at a red light, I saw two campus buses bound for an illuminated Bryant-Denny Stadium turn before me. On the first one, Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart stood in the aisle, talking in an animated fashion with about a dozen large young men in seats surrounding him, hanging on his every word. Yep, it’s still recruiting time in Alabama.

Crimson Tide players fare well in 2009 Senior Bowl
Quarterback John Parker Wilson was named offensive player of the game. He threw for 56 yards and rushed for 17 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, safety Rashad Johnson led the South team with five tackles. Offensive lineman Antoine Caldwell also got a starting assignment.

Kerry Murphy on next year’s left tackle spot: “They got Fluker for that.”
I asked him, Can you see yourself filling Dre’s shoes and playing left tackle? “They got Fluker for that,” said Murphy, referring to this monster.

Roll Tide!
