2009 Off-Season Roundup
Nick Saban is taking his anger out on… Auburn. He has hired assistant coach James Willis away from the Plains to replace linebackers coach Lance Thompson (who left for Lane Kiffin’s staff at Tennessee). So just to review, in two short seasons in Tuscaloosa, here’s what Saban has taken from Auburn: recruits, the Iron Bowl trophy, a prized assistant and the program’s mojo in general. In other words, everything but “War Eagle.”

Greg Reid enjoys Tuscaloosa visit
Greg Reid, four-star cornerback from Valdosta-Lowndes, Ga., took an official visit to the University of Alabama. The trip to Tuscaloosa was a first, and Reid quickly discovered the passion of the fans.

The Fat Lady Does Not Wear Crimson
The 2008 storybook season came crashing down in a span of weeks with consecutive losses to Florida and underdog Utah. It was hard to imagine such a humble end for a team that had accomplished so much. The pain unfortunately is quite familiar to Tide fans. Since the Stallings era Alabama football has rarely put forth its most notable performances at the end. The Bear Bryant museum is a great place but the shiny things in there are getting dull with age. We need some fresh bling for a new generation and one ingredient that we absolutely must find is the knack for winning at the end.

Roll Tide!
