Finebaum: SEC spring bash may be must-see TV
As part of ESPN’s new 15-year, $2.25 billion agreement with the Southeastern Conference, a little known provision includes live coverage of the league’s spring meetings in Destin — plus gavel to gavel broadcasting of the closed-doors sessions between the school’s 12 head football coaches. Well, not really. But can you imagine if ESPN had its College GameDay show live on the sandy beaches in a few months? Start the music, roll the credits and action:
The Good Ole Days
As an Alabama alumnus, Sherrill said he’s followed the program closely since he left coaching, especially the past two seasons since Nick Saban took over the program. “He’s done an excellent job,” Sherrill said of Saban. “He was a good fit for Alabama and the people of Alabama. When someone is hired, the biggest question that needs to be answered is ‘Are they a good fit for the program?’ If they’re not, they won’t succeed.” Since Saban has taken over at Bama, the Tide have succeeded quickly, winning a division title this past season and playing in a BCS game.
ANDREW BONE: Across Alabama borders
The University of Alabama coaching staff is being very selective with in-state scholarship offers for the class of 2010 and is not shying away from elite out-of-state prospects. The Crimson Tide staff is looking to fill several needs on both sides of the ball, and will need to go outside the state borders to reel in another top recruiting class. Head coach Nick Saban’s staff has been seen as regulars in the states of Georgia and Tennessee, offering scholarshops to more than a dozen players in those states.
Roll Tide!
