Time for another stop by the NFL Combine in Indianapolis to see how another Alabama player is doing. The three-year starting quarterback from Hoover met with the media today. Today, it was John Parker Wilson’s turn. Here is his edited transcript:
Alabama’s B.J.Scott switching to defense
Vigor High coach Kerry Stevenson has told former standout B.J. Scott all along that Scott’s best spot was on the defensive side of the football. After a season at wide receiver for Alabama, Scott has a chance to find out for sure. Scott will be at defensive back when the Crimson Tide opens spring practice next month, Stevenson told the Press-Register Friday. The decision was finalized during a recent meeting with Alabama coach Nick Saban. Other similar articles:
An early look at 2010 recruiting in Alabama
Looks like 2010 will be a good year for in-state recruiting but not as strong as the past two years, according to Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Jamie Newberg. In fact, Newberg wrote in his weekly mailbag that he doesn’t foresee any five-star prospects in Alabama — a stark contrast to the recent collection of five-star jewels that included Julio Jones, B.J. Scott, D.J. Fluker, Dre Kirkpatrick, Tyler Love and Nico Johnson.
Agent denies wrongdoing in Smith’s suspension
The agent for Andre Smith insists that his brief relationship with the former University of Alabama All-American offensive tackle has been by the book. Virginia-based agent Alvin Keels said he first spoke to Smith on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1, then met with him in person on Feb. 11. “I have never stepped foot in Alabama,” Keels said late Thursday night.
