Morning Brew: Cocky coaches fill the SEC
Your football program is one bad season away from becoming totally irrelevant. It’s on the brink of cementing its place as the fourth-best program in a six-team division. So what does the coach do? He starts talking trash. He makes false allegations. He masks his lack of experience with taunts. This is new Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin. With spring football set to kick off around the nation over the next few weeks, a lot of attention is focused on Knoxville, Tenn., where Kiffin has created more riffraff than Stefhon Hannah at a nightclub.

2009 NFL Draft Updates: Johnson Bulks Up
Alabama safety Rashad Johnson has been purposely bulking up during his offseason workouts and is really pleased with the results. “The nutrition program is spectacular. Everybody has their own set diet and meal plans,” he said during a recent interview with Scout.com. “I know I came in here with some questions from scouts about my size—and as a result my durability since guys are bigger and faster in the NFL. So I’ve put on a significant amount of weight, but I’m also running faster than when I got here.”

Alabama Offers a Scholarship to a Linebacker with a Big Kick
Nick Saban has offered a scholarship to a Texas High School linebacker at Southlake-Carroll High School. With 58 tackles last season (53 solo, five assist) and just six sacks, his numbers, size—at 6’1″ and 215—and speed aren’t indicative of such an early offer from such a prestigious program. So what does Nick know that we may not? Cade Foster moonlights on the side as a kicker.

Video highlights of Nico Johnson playing basketball
Nico Johnson is a five-star linebacker for Andalusia, but today his basketball skills were on display in the AHSAA Final 48 state championships. Johnson had a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds in his team’s loss to Anniston in the Class 4A semifinal game.
