Auburn’s Offense Is Headed for Another Trainwreck in 2009
Remember last year’s Auburn fiasco, the spread offense? Well, that ended up spreading Auburn’s wins out to other teams across the SEC and spreading both offensive coordinator Tony Franklin and head coach Tommy Tuberville to different unemployment offices. Here’s this year’s trainwreck you can see coming around the bend.
Tennessee a motivating factor in Gators football complex
The Florida strength staff is known for using traditional rivals to motivate players in the offseason, maybe with a quote from an opposing player or old game film hanging from the football complex. But after Lane Kiffin’s recent jabs and cheating accusations toward Florida, the Vols might serve as ammunition seven months early. Gonzales and Piraino hinted that Tennessee-related content has made an appearance in the football offices, though unfortunately they spared any details. Tennessee comes to Gainesville on Sept. 19. “They’re excited for the SEC opener,” Gonzales said.
A Look Back at 2008’s Impact Freshmen
Mark Ingram (Alabama)- The athlete from Flint, Mich., was one of over twenty 4 or 5-star prospects to commit to Nick Saban in 2008. With such an influx of talent in this class, plus having Glen Coffee and Terry Grant already ahead of him on the RB depth chart, it was difficult to gauge what kind of impact, if any, Ingram would make. But he quickly became part of a dangerous 1-2 punch with Coffee. Stats: 728 rushing, 54 receiving, 12 touchdowns.
