Great lines on National Signing Day…
It was a loooooong day, but an interesting one. But before I head to bed, did you notice there were a ton of great lines today? Some funny and some noteworthy stuff. Mostly from the prospects, but some from others, too. So, in honor of signing day before over, let’s take a look at this day with some quotables:
CECIL HURT: Saban and Co. come through once again
There’s no date stamped on the forehead of University of Alabama football fans. There is no computer bar code on the back of their hand to help check for freshness. But scientific observation has now determined how long a Crimson Tide fan can go before he or she is spoiled. Two years. In three classes of Nick Saban recruiting, stretching from February 2007 until February 2009, Crimson Tide fans have moved rapidly on the following path: from hopeful, to deliriously exuberant, to downright expectant of the No. 1 recruiting class in America.
Alabama’s Nick Saban: “This is one of the places I enjoy most to recruit to”
Upon learning for sure that Richardson would complete what Rivals has already named as the nation’s No. 1 signing class, Saban described his own mood as “elated” and “ecstatic.” “This is one of the places I enjoy most to recruit to because of the attitude toward recruiting here, the positive energy we have,” Saban said.
Tide tops recruiting rankings yet again
In the end, one of Alabama’s first commitments turned out to be the crowning accomplishment to another great signing class. [Trent] Richardson followed through on his commitment to Alabama, donning an Alabama cap just moments before Saban’s press conference. “I think I’ve seen just about every kind of Alabama hat there is, don’t you think?” Saban asked. “I like that last one, though.
