Bad luck for the Irish?
I don’t mean to wish any bad luck on the Irish (what’s wrong with that saying), but I would like to see Notre Dame finish with a losing record this season for a selfish reason. I think it would be the story of the year to see who Notre Dame would hire as its next coach? Would Notre Dame go after Nick Saban. Hey, here’s a guy from the Midwest who is Irish Catholic. I don’t think Saban would give any other job a passing thought except Notre Dame. You can basically forget about the NFL. Saban would drool over the national recruiting base Notre Dame has for its arsenal.
Alabama’s Nick Saban shuffling players from position to position
Alabama junior offensive lineman William Vlachos is a center. At least he thinks so. “He hasn’t said anything to me about guard,” Vlachos said of Crimson Tide offensive line coach Joe Pendry. “And he’s moved a lot of people around.” Rare is the player on Alabama’s offensive line right now who knows for sure where he’ll be lining up in the fall. The same goes at linebacker, in the secondary and other places where positions are changing early and often during spring practice. Other similar articles:
Battle Between the Powers
Demarco Cobbs, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound four-star wide receiver from Central High School in Tulsa, Okla., has around 30 offers and while continuing to deny a leader, he does name a top seven. Cobbs, ranked as Scout.com’s No. 3 wide receiver and No. 32 on this year’s initial Scout.com Top 100, said he favors USC, Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee. All of his favorites have offered. He doesn’t plan on deciding early. “I want to wait it out,” Cobbs said.
Sharrief determined to fill big shoes on defense
There were times last season, especially when he was back in the film room, that University of Alabama safety Ali Sharrief both wanted and needed to be more like teammate Rashad Johnson. “I was kind of like, somehow, some way I have to get exactly like him,” Sharrief said. “The way he talks, the way he calls the plays. He can basically call a play before it happens. He has great instincts. I’m trying to build on my instincts and what I can do to be a better person, and as good as he was. I think that’s all of us, too. We’re all trying to work toward that. With him not being here, we have some very, very big shoes to fill.”
Roll Tide!
