Nothing’s for sure in Tide’s lineup
Earlier this week, Brian Motley looked like an afterthought, an almost forgotten contributor on the offensive line. By Saturday, he was working with the first-team unit. If there’s one thing the shuffling lineup has taught Alabama players, it’s that there is no depth chart. Head coach Nick Saban frequently chastises the media on the subject, insisting any piece of player that has players listed in a certain order by position is for “organizational purposes only.” “I don’t know anything about the depth chart,” said backup left tackle Alfred McCullough. “It switches up every day.”
Scouting the Draft: Alabama’s Antoine Caldwell
Caldwell was one of the best interior linemen in the country, but he also has something other players don’t: He played for Nick Saban over the past two years, and Bill Belichick trusts Saban. If Caldwell gets the seal of approval from Saban, he’d more than likely pass muster for Belichick as well.

“I know the players really, really appreciate the support that you give,” Saban said. “It’s a great opportunity for you to get a peek at next year’s team, and we really really appreciate the positive energy and attitude you show in support of the team, especially in spring practice. So I hope everybody comes out and enjoys it.”

Alabama coach Nick Saban doesn’t hide how he’s feeling. If he’s grumpy when he walks in the door for a news conference, you usually know pretty quickly. When he walks with that half-smile and asks, “Hey, when does the Final Four start?” you know things might be going OK.
