Nick Saban Gets Closer To Magic Number With Help From Reality
People have often criticized Alabama Coach Nick Saban for signing more players than he actually has slots to offer. Yet somehow it all works out by kickoff day. It seems things will work out this year too. With the transfer of Prince Hall, who never escaped Saban’s doghouse, as well as the medical scholarship of Jennings Hester, a Shula signee at linebacker, Saban had been coming closer to the magic number. Then Kellen Williams went to do play in a charity basketball game, proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. A freak twist and a torn ACL later, Williams knew there would be no football for him this fall.
Moore ready for Tide transition
Being a University of Alabama football recruit and signee, never mind rostered player, takes a little getting used to, but Brandon Moore seems to be adjusting well. For example, when the Montgomery Carver lineman was on hand for last month’s A-Day, a number of fans recognized him and asked for autographs even though he had yet to enroll. Moore no longer considers that unusual. “A year and a half ago I would have said that, but not now,” Moore said. “Montgomery is like that too now.”
Will Humphrey’s son follow father to Tide?
Former University of Alabama running back Bobby Humphrey, who still holds the Crimson Tide record for most rushing yards in a season, watches his son Maudrecas play in the Riviera Utilities Football Classic on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The game is known as a showcase for recruiting talent. Will the younger Humphrey follow in his father’s footsteps and wear crimson and white?
Can Nick Saban Sign the Entire 2010 Class Before Fall?
Tonight word came out that Nick Saban has just got the commitment from coveted defensive end Craig Sanders. This was Saban’s 12th commitment for the 2010 class. At this rate, he could conceivably sign the entire class before fall. Now we know that this is improbable because there are always the athlete that waits until the last second, but Saban is racking up incredible athletes at an incredible pace. The message Saban is sending the athletes is strong, clear and loud. We’re going to sign great players, we’re going to have to have top recruiting classes and we’re going to contend for National Championships. Line up with us now or get in line with the losers.
Roll Tide!
