Alabama to kick off season in prime time again
Alabama opened last season on college football’s biggest stage and will get a chance to do so again in 2009. The Crimson Tide’s matchup with Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game on Sept. 5 will be televised nationally by ABC and kick off at 8 p.m. ET. It’s the second straight year that Alabama has opened its season in prime time on ABC. The Tide used the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game as a springboard to a 12-0 regular season last year, getting things started with a 34-10 romp of Clemson in the Georgia Dome.

Hired Gun Or Lovable Loyalist?
Here’s a question for you to ponder over this Memorial Day Weekend: Would you rather have a football coach that’s likeable, fan friendly and somewhat successful or one who’s ultra successful, but is a jerk who could care less about his fans and only thinks of himself and winning? Florida’s Urban Meyer and Alabama’s Nick Saban, there’s little doubt they are the two best coaches in the SEC. There’s also no debating they are the two most disingenuous, pompous and self-serving coaches in America.

The 11 Worst College Football Coaching Performances of the 21st Century
Many times a coach has been left with only the actual results to make his argument for tenure while “supporters” of the program demand action. Action that can only be satisfied by removal and replacement of the current regime. Dennis Franchione; 8. Mike Shula; 6. Mike Dubose

Quarterback Marve chooses Purdue
Coming out of Tampa’s Plant High School, Marve threw for 7,096 yards and 69 touchdowns. He considered Purdue but committed to Alabama. Marve changed his mind after the school fired coach Mike Shula and named Nick Saban. Florida’s 2006 Mr. Football started 11 games for the Hurricanes last season. Marve was suspended twice by Miami coach Randy Shannon.
