Alabama coach Nick Saban asks recruiting sites for integrity in reporting
Saban says some reporters for recruiting fan sites have been unfair in what they are telling prospects about Alabama’s situation. He said that the writers have been passing on to 2010 prospects incorrect and potentially damaging information about what the sanctions mean for UA. “That should be addressed by somebody and should be brought to bear,” Saban said. “If people are just covering recruiting with honesty and integrity, (there’s no problem). But all those guys that work out there for (recruiting sites) are for the school. Everybody roots for a team. And they get information for a team.”
Alabama secures its punter of the future in Thomasville’s Jay Williams
Thomasville punter Jay Williams has accepted a scholarship offer and committed to Alabama. Williams becomes the Crimson Tide’s 14th commitment to the expected 2010 signing class. Williams averaged more than 50 yards per punt at a recent camp. “He’s very good,” McCabe said. “His bad punts are 4.6 (second hang time), 45 yards. You’re not going to return and end-over-end punt like that.”
Alabama lands in-state CB Deion Belue
Deion Belue, a cornerback from Deshler High in Tuscumbia, just became the Crimson Tide’s 15th commitment for the 2010 class. He is the 7th in-state guy and the 3rd defensive back. Delue, a 5-foot-11, 170-pounder, picked UA over offers from UAB, Auburn, and Southern Miss. “What’s not to like about Alabama?” Belue asked BamaMag.com. “I like everything about them. I like the facilities, the campus and the coaching staff.”
Brent Calloway jumps aboard for 2011
Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban is working ahead, as he secured his second commitment for 2011 earlier today. Put Russellville athlete Brent Calloway on the board. “I am here at Alabama all the time,” Calloway told BamaOnLine.com. “When I am here, I am always greeting guys and players are greeting me back. It feels like I am already part of the program.”
