SEC Preview: Alabama
Nick Saban thinks things will be different this year. That’s not a threat or a promise regarding the success of his Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Saban, beginning his third year as Bama coach, said the difference this year is that Alabama will have a target on its back. “Last year no one had Alabama circled on the schedule,” Saban said. “This year, everyone will.”

Among the former high school and collegiate teammates on-hand Saturday for the 2009 Le’Ron McClain All-Star Football Camp, one player in particular stood out and it wasn’t Rashad Johnson. It was Chris Rogers, who still plays for the Crimson Tide. On arguably the last free weekend the team will have for a long time, he was working with more than 100 kids at the free camp. “It’s going great,” Rogers said. “I couldn’t ask for anything more, getting better. Looking forward to the senior season. We’re expecting big things.”

With nine starters returning from last year’s dominant stop unit, the 2009 defense should be as close to the ’92 group as any. BamaOnLine.com’s Chase Goodbread and Travis Reier look at the two defenses, position by position, in a 12-part series:
