Sunseri’s commitment could help lure DePriest

Posted by BamaFootball4Life | Jun 14, 2010 | -

Three-star recruit Vinnie Sunseri, who told Nick Saban in his office on Friday he was committing to Alabama, said he couldn’t predict who might be next to side with the Tide, but he did single out four recruits — two in Ohio and two in Alabama — he would like to see join him in wearing crimson and white. One of them is four-star recruit Trey DePriest (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield South). One of them is four-star recruit Trey DePriest (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield South). “He’s one of my good friends,” Sunseri told CrimsonConfidential.com Sunday afternoon, referring to the 6-foot-1, 225-pounder who’s rated by ESPN as the nation’s No. 2 outside linebacker prospect. “We keep in contact every once in a while.” Sunseri and DePriest met at an Under Armour All-American camp earlier this year and hit it off once DePriest found out Vinnie is the son of Sal, the assistant coach recruiting him to Alabama. Trey was at Alabama last week for a visit, and Vinnie did the honors of showing him around. [More]

Aggies Heading For The SEC?

AggieYell.com, A&M’s Rivals affiliate, is suggesting that the school has decided to head to the Southeastern Conference. At the same time, Chris Level tweets that the Pac-10 is looking to Kansas to replace them. Taking this latest news for what it is, apparent likelihood, not the inevitable, I am quite intrigued with the landscape that this would create. Several uncertainties immediately arise. Some of those are already being argued about on message boards and next to coffee machines; some haven’t really been explored. Over half of their games will still be right in the middle of Southeast Texas. Their forays into Louisiana, Alabama and Arkansas will be intriguing adventures, not permanent exile from their players’ families. As most Aggies will tell you, their average conference road trip will be a good deal closer than Arizona, Kansas, Colorado or certainly the Pacific Coast. [More]

Recruiting: Brandon Shell, Showing Some Interest in Alabama

The latest prospect tried to slip into town with little notice and fanfare, but when you’re 6’7″ and 290 pounds and you’re traveling with NFL Hall of Fame player Art Shell, you’re kind of hard not to notice. Such was the case when Brandon Shell, a high school offensive lineman, someone who could be playing either guard or tackle in the future in big-time college football. He had hoped to come in, take a fast look around in a very unofficial visit and meet with coach Saban, but with summer camp in session, and reporters here to cover that, there was no way Brandon could go unnoticed. Though dozens of schools would love to have him, he has narrowed his focus down to five schools. According to his coach, Chuck Reedy of Goose Creek High School just outside of Charleston, S.C., said “Shell will announce for South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and Miami (Fla.).” He also added that the Gamecocks, Tigers, Bulldogs and Crimson Tide have “done the best job of recruiting him.” [More]
