Ingram is Wearing a Bullseye

Posted by BamaFootball4Life | Jul 9, 2010 | -

“When the ball is snapped and I get the ball, I just hear noises – pow, pow,” Ingram said. “Then I just see flashes of different colors of jerseys and I react to it. People ask me what did I see, but I really can’t tell you what I saw … all I did was react.” This season Ingram will be the latest underclassman to try to repeat his Heisman Trophy season. There have been 19 underclassmen to win the award and only one – Ohio State’s Archie Griffin – pulled off a repeat performance. The Heisman Trophy weighs 25 pounds, but the weight it carries in terms of making you a marked man on the football field is infinitely more than that. Every team will be shooting for him. They know that Ingram is the man who makes Alabama go, but even more than that there is something infinitely satisfying by laying a good hit on a Heisman Trophy winner. Ingram led Alabama to the SEC title and national championship last season, but Alabama already had plenty of those trophies. Now, thanks to Mark Ingram, the trophy case is complete. [More]

Saban return to the NFL chatter

So, will Nick Saban return to the NFL? Xtrapointfootball.com says yes. According to Bob Bearden, “The moment Saban feels the Crimson Tide may not have a shot to vie for the National Championship, expect Saban to embark on another stint in the NFL to take care of unfinished business.” But what does Nick Saban say about it? He told the Sporting News, “You know, with all that we’ve been through and all that we’ve done … I think we’re really satisfied having the opportunity to be in that kind of university-spirit, community setting that we’re in right now. I think at this stage we’re more interested in happiness and feeling self-fulfilled with how we affect the community, give back to the community, help the players and the program, than really thinking about doing something different professionally.” [More]

Recruiting: A potential replacement for Julio Jones?

Could Alabama land a potential replacement for Julio Jones in Georgia head coach Mark Richt’s own backyard? According to CrimsonConfidential.com, five-star ATH Quan Bray has not ruled out playing for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. While the Georgia native initially singled out LSU and Miami in an interview with writer Erik Stinnett, when Stinnett raised the possibility of the Crimson Tide, Bray didn’t shoot down the idea. “Oh, yeah. Alabama’s still up there. They’re up there,” he said. [More]

Recruiting: Dr. Phillips are enjoying recruiting

Demetrius Hart (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) is a wanted man. In the world of college football recruiting that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But when schools like Michigan, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech are willing to roll out the red carpet for the 5-foot-9 running back, it can be a little overwhelming. “It can be a little crazy,” Hart added. “The phone never stops ringing.” Clinton-Dix, a four-star safety ranked No. 26 in the ESPNU 150, has already committed to Alabama and he doesn’t want to be the only member of the Dr. Phillips team to head to Tuscaloosa next year. Hart describe what he loves about each program. Alabama: “Anytime the Crimson Tide shows interest you have to listen,” Hart said. “Nick Saban is one of the best coaches in the nation, probably in the recent history of college football. And the SEC is the nation’s dominant conference.” [More]
