Saban at top of the SEC football coaches

Posted by BamaFootball4Life | Jul 11, 2010 | -

As a group, the current crop of Southeastern Conference football coaches owns six national championships, 860 wins and 39 bowl victories. Their annual salary is a combined $25.6 million. Talk about fast company. There’s a lot of star power here — Saban, Meyer, Spurrier, Richt. No wonder several coaches have said that it is tougher to win the SEC championship than to win the national title. But who is the best of the best? Here is a ranking of SEC head coaches — first to worst. 1. Nick Saban, Alabama — When he signed on with the Crimson Tide for $4 million a year, some people (OK, I was among them) questioned whether Saban could possibly be worth it. Considering what he’s done in just three years, it was a bargain. Simply put, Saban is the best coach in college football. When it comes to the combination of organization, recruiting, motivation and strategy, he has no peer. [More]

BCS Teams to Watch

The defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide have opened at online sportsbooks as 4-1 favorites in college football odds to win the BCS Championship for the 2010-11 season and that may be a solid price. Bama coach Nick Saban has loaded the program with outstanding recruits and the team has the confidence of a deep and loaded champion that has dominated the best teams in the land last year including Florida who has opened at 10-1 and Texas. Saban has built a machine and will face teams in the SEC that are not up to the Tide’s level which should help their campaign. [More]

NCAA Football 11 has Tide as No. 1 team

Thousands of football fans from around the nation have dreamed what it would be like to be on the field for an opening kickoff. And now with the new NCAA Football 11 video game, they can experience the next best thing. The new and enhanced college football game from EA Sports is launching Tuesday, and the defending national champion University of Alabama Crimson Tide is No. 1 in the game. The updated version of the game promises to be the most graphically and visually appealing, said Ben Haumiller, a designer for the EA Sports game. He said the game has been changed in three main fronts. “We’ve updated college play, as well as college presentation, and we innovated the online dynasty” he said. “The game play and the presentation are wrapped up in what we call the ‘TruSchool System.’ Basically, each school is uniquely identified by what’s unique about them in real life.” [More]

When the Tide score first, they’ve been unbeatable

In recent years, Alabama and Florida have won almost all of their games. But when the Crimson Tide and Gators score the first points of the game, they’ve been unbeatable. Alabama has won 23 consecutive game in which the Crimson Tide has scored first. Alabama hasn’t lost a game in which it scored first since Louisiana-Monroe rallied to a 21-14 upset on Nov. 17, 2007. Since that loss, Alabama has played seven games in which its opponent got on the scoreboard first, and the Tide has a 4-3 record in those games. Alabama did not score first in its most recent game, but still beat Texas for the BCS national championship. [More]
