Jalston Fowler sees it as a reward for a spring of hard work. Barrett Jones sees it as the kickoff of one of the few “down” periods in a college football player’s life. Nick Saban sees it as a very personal renewal. Alabama fans, however, see today’s annual A-Day Game (2 p.m., CSS) as a sneak preview for what’s coming next fall – and as the first chance since Jan. 9 to see the Crimson Tide in action. Saban sounded particularly eager to see how this game unfolds. “This is their first opportunity to create an identity as a team … in terms of the kind of team chemistry, character, discipline, ability to execute, maturity, all the things that we always talk about,” Saban said.“I’m really looking forward to the game. … We play it as close to a real game (as possible). … It’s a new team, and I think this situation will really help them.” Alabama’s spring game has consistently been among the nation’s best-attended in the past five years.
